6×14 Mask and modified spool in place

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010
Decided to use my magical black foam rather than cool shiny brass for the mask–easier to handle and afix. I might have to coat it with something along the edge if the film edges get caught up on it. All I need now is a film pressure plate and I’ll be ready to roll!

How to make an old 122 camera accept 120 film

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010
1. Buy old wooden 122 film spool on eBay. Hope you didn’t get ripped off.
2. Cut from both ends about 15mm. (122 spools are about 95-96mm; 120 spools are 65mm long).
3. Drill 3/16″ diameter holes on the wood end of each cut spool piece.
4. Cut 2 1/2″ pieces of 3/16″ dowel and glue in drilled holes.
5. Load 120 film roll onto the two modified 122 spool ends.
6. Put into bigass Kodak No. 3A Autographic camera to shoot bigass 6x14cm negatives (after masking film plane with brass sheets).

Brass tooling foil rolls are cool

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010
I found some super neato brass and copper tooling foil in super neato rolls to use in the current DIY camera projects. Now I wish I had a decent pair of tin snips.

Bellows painted, seam glued, ready to fold

Friday, June 11th, 2010
Most bellows are black, sometimes red or maroon. Back in the day red Russian leather was the hip style. Today it is Goya (bitter melon) Green-and I have the only one.
