Celtic Festival, Vancouver

The drinking among the Irish and non-Irish started here in Ann Arbor last night. Streets were pretty active with Wolverines downtown tonight as Jennifer Robertson, one of her colleagues, and I went out to eat at pretty good fusion place called Pacific Rim. I opted for the rack [...]

Rav’s on a roll. Her photos rock too. Caption:
“It’s up to you to write the happy ending in the screenplay of your life.”

I came across this poster in an exhibit along the corridors of Nashville Intenational Airport on the way to Ann Arbor this morning. Too good to pass up. What a hoot(er)! I guess the message here is that women should get breast implants made of magnets. I gotta go back and check what the context [...]

I’m off to U of Mich in a half-hour to give a talk at the Center for Japanese Studies there (”U.S. Military Bases as Tourist Sites in Okinawa”). “Respectful people . ..
Resolve disagreements
Encourage everyone
Stand up for their beliefs
Practice self control
Express themselves without violence or harsh words
Consider [...]

Pick me!

I took this photo of my Emerald Blue Creeping Phlox this afternoon. I planted them in late fall, and now they are starting to burst forth. From one day to the next there might be two dozen or more new blossoms. Very pretty, and they add nice color to [...]

Forever

Yup, you guessed it: another Rav shot. Where does her eye and time to use it come from? I can hardly figure out what this one is, but it’s glowingly beautiful and downright interesting. Her caption (more Hallmarky than usual):
“Love needs careful tending.
Treat it well and it will bloom for [...]
